Apple Pie Bars

No time to make a pie? These super quick, buttery and delicious bars will complete any meal.
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Servings 12

Equipment

  • 1 9×13 glass pan
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (226 g) butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 3 cups (375 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups (1020 g) apple pie filling (see notes below to make your own)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375℉.
  • Mix softened butter and sugar together in a mixing bowl.
  • Add flour, salt and baking soda and powder. Mix together well. It should look crumbly.
  • Put about 1/2 of the mixture in a 9×13 pan. Press down flat with a spoon or fingers.
  • Spread the pie filling evenly over the crust.
  • Add remaining crumbles to the top of the pie filling.
  • Bake about 25-30 minutes until the top is starting to get light brown.
  • Cool completely before serving.

Notes

Instead of canned apple pie filling, try making your own!  When I made this, I took homemade apple sauce and added cinnamon, sugar and cloves to it until it tasted the way I wanted.  The bars cut better without the larger chunks of apple as well.
